EX Raids are special, invite-only, raids that occur in Pokémon Go. To take part in an EX Raid, then you must have received an EX Raid Pass. In true Pokémon style, Mewtwo was the first Pokémon to available through an EX Raid, with other equally rare Pokémon joining the ranks over time.
Do ex raids really exist?
An EX Raid Battle, formerly Exclusive Raid Battle, is the same as a regular Raid Battle, but it is invite-only. These raid battles only occur in EX Raid Gyms. Trainers must obtain an EX Raid Pass, prior to entering battle.

Can you do an ex raid alone?

EX Raid Battles are exclusive raids where you’ll have an opportunity to catch some of the most sought after Pokémon. Unlike other raids, you need to be invited to attend an EX Raid at a specific Gym at a specific time.
Can you invite to a raid if you were invited?
Once you’ve sent your invitations, recipients will receive a notification that they’ve been invited to a Raid Battle. Invited friends can join the Raid Battle even if you have to leave the lobby yourself.
How often do ex raids occur?
Now that you can see your local S2 cells, remember that an EX Raid can only occur once per cell per cycle. Raiding 100 gyms inside one cell doesn’t benefit you as much as raiding a dozen of eligible gyms in a higher number of cells.
When do you get an ex raid invite?
Trainers who have completed a larger number of Raid Battles are more likely to be invited to EX Raid Battles. Select ‘Invite’ to invite a friend to an EX Raid. You can now also invite, or be invited, to an EX Raid by one of your Pokémon Go friends. You’ll be given the option to invite a friend to an EX Raid when you first receive the invite. Select the option ‘Invite’ from the menu to open up your Friend’s List.

The eligibility requirements for an EX Raid Battle are the following: frequency, times, locations, and duration of a Raid Battle. These factors will increase a Trainer’s chance of being invited to an EX Raid Battle.
When to get ex raid pass in Pok Mon go?
When do receive an EX Raid Pass, it should be between a few days to a week in advance and at a time that takes into account when the gym is most used. This, in theory, should give you and your fellow Pok mon Go players enough time to find the Raid location and co-ordinate about when to complete the EX Raid.
